In 1979, Peonia Ltd has started collecting and multiplying peonies. After helping a full season with an excellent peony cultivator, we started where our learning masters have stopped; with growing of termination material especially aimed on the needs of flower cutters. Because we grow our material on the best soil there is for the peonies (fat clay) we can provide an excellent and heavy quality bare roots. Meanwhile we deliver our roots all over the world.

To find new and promising cut varieties, we have a large assortment in our show garden; approximately 270 different types. Our pursuit is to grow many new varieties with good cut qualities on a regular base. With success; the varieties Red Charm, Henry Bockstoce and Diana Parks are some examples of European success in the previous years. Nowadays there are other varieties and with at least the same qualities available, such as our latest success Mary E Nicholls. This development continues always and it ensures that we can always distinguish ourselves. The growing and cultivation of the plant material takes place entirely on our own site. As a result, we can work very flexible, and always with contact with our customers.

We are connected with the NAKTuinbouw (The Stichting Nederlandse Algemene Kwaliteitsdienst Tuinbouw (Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture – known as NAKTuinbouw) promotes and monitors the quality of products, processes and chains in horticulture, focusing particularly on propagation material, both national and international. Naktuinbouw is an independent organisation regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) that several times per year makes a checkup on our assortment. A ‘quality label’, if you will. These quality inspectings are a necessaty when the plants are transported out of The Netherlands, and a ‘quality label’when transferred inlands.

Our material is delivered in the autumn, from October to December. The ordering happens all year around, even for the years to come. Generally as early as possible, since the chance exists that some varieties are sold off already.
